“We’re going deeper into the rift!”


“But lets go around this guy.”
We pick our way carefully around him.


”It’s a big shadow!
I think he means the radius thing, and not Omega.


”Where we in now”
“What does it look like?”
”Look like a library”
“Should I open any of the books?”
He says no at first, but eventually relents once nothing else seems to be happening.


”He Ecks-deff’s bad guy?”
“One of them!”
”Fight him!”


Apanda doesn’t really have anything on this team. I draw out the fight, really.


I do use Ifrit, though the humor is lost on him. He wants the water dragon. Also, Firaga deals like 7K damage to this guy (my son isn’t interested in using the dragon buddy today)


I mean, water damage is bad for books too, right?


Clearly so!


”Clouds!”


“He’s a dragon.”
”A bad dragon?”
“He IS trying to fight us, so probably”


”We doing that fight again?”
“Well there is a ninja too this time.”


“What were we walking on?”
”Buildings.”


”Why we fighting them again?”
“They keep attacking us! Should we run?”
”Fight them.”
We do. Most fights go fine around here, though I run just because they can be a slog.


Good. Good.


“Where are we now?”
”Where are we?”
“It looks like a castle.”
”What kind of castle?”
“Does it look like it is floating?”
”It IS floating.”


”He big.”


”Go in there.”
I go in the stairs to here.
“It’s locked.”


”Let him out!”
He wants everyone freed. Or perhaps fought?


“Hey is he one of Exdeath’s guys?”
”We gonna fight him?“


”He’s so biiig!”
I put Learning on Lenna but nothing comes of it. He goes down a bit too fast. He wants me to use my summons (well, all our dragons) so…




No, I never learned Exploder.

”Let them out.”

We do and well.


”He so big!”
I sort of mess up. I put a reflect ring on Faris and have her use Mighty Guard, but it bounces off her! Whoops.


I quickly Carbunkle up anyway.
”And see, he have one eye? He Ecks-deff’s bad guy.”



He is trivialized in the traditional fashion. I Dispel the guard I put on him.


”Let them all out.”
Okay, I guess. I usually skip them.


”He’s old guy.”


”Dragon! He turned big!”
Repeat this like six times with their absorbing elements gimmick.


He tells me to let her out too. We collect a smooch.


“Now we can unlock this door!”


“What’s going on with this door?”


”She badguy?”


”It’s Ecks-deff’s badguy!.”


Halicarnassus! The fight starts the usual way.


”They all frogs!”
“We’re going to try to fix that.” I futz around with that.



She has shoes!”
“Yes. What color is that cape?”
”Blue- all purple!”
“The inside too?”
”Yellow.”
Also did you know she counters Summon with a nearly 3K physical attack? Welp!


He isn’t interested in using the dragon today, but I still use Firaga now and then.


And we win!
”He shakin’ apart!”


”We fight on that chair?”
“We fought there, yes.”


A red dragon? What are you doing here, buddy? I drop Blizzaga. He observes we won with our hit. Yes. That is true.


”We are on the top.”
“The top of the castle? You’re right.”


”It’s some of Ecks-deffs’ monsters.”
“Its a frog monster.”
”It’s a frog?”
”Yes.”


”Whoa-a-a-a! He so biiiig!”
“Does he still look like a frog?”
He laughs. ”No.”


I reflexively attack and eat some counters. OH RIGHT. Cure that, we’re good. We’re good.


Not super intimidated here.


Mostly I stall for this.


”What that was?”
“One of Krile’s spells. A… skeleton spell.”
”Who’s hit was it?”
“One of her spells.” I point.


He turns into stairs!
”Go up there.”


”What. Where at you now?”
“Where are we?”
”Yes. Yeah.”
“We’re in the last stretch of the rift and at the end is Exdeath.”
”Get to the end”
